What are the main Orlando airports, and how do I get from them to central Orlando?

Orlando has two primary airports: the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Sanford International Airport (SFB). While the Sanford International Airport can have some great deals, most travelers fly into MCO because it has more options.

Orlando International Airport / MCO: By far the more popular of the two, MCO is Orlando’s main international airport and offers the most flight options. With flights from all of the most popular domestic airlines, most US flights will land here. Once you land, you’ll also have plenty of pickup options. The Orlando airport is located just 25 minutes from downtown Orlando, so a taxi or an Uber is always an option. Depending on where you’re going, many hotels or theme parks offer direct shuttles as well. There’s also a local bus system (the Lynx Bus) that makes stops at the airport every 30 minutes that will take you into downtown Orlando for just $2.

Sanford International Airport / SFB: SFB is much smaller and only offers flights with a small number of budget airlines. However, this means you can sometimes find a really great deal on flights to Orlando if you fly into Sanford! Sanford is a hub for Allegiant Airlines and also offers seasonal flights on Sun Country Airlines. The airport is about 30 minutes from downtown Orlando. While there aren’t as many shuttle options as MCO, you can always take an Uber or a taxi if you’re not renting a car.

Orlando universities and campuses

Orlando universities and campuses

With Orlando’s seemingly-unending theme parks, “work hard, play hard” just makes sense here. The University of Central Florida is Orlando’s largest 4-year university, offering a wide variety of majors and study options. Another benefit? 50 percent of first-time college students at UCF graduate without any student loan debt! If you’re looking to study in Orlando, you’ll also have access to a ton of great restaurants, beaches (the closest ones are under an hour away) and affordable costs on everything from apartments to coffee.

Orlando lifestyle and culture

Orlando lifestyle and culture

Orlando’s lifestyle and culture is similar to many other places in Florida, or in the US as a whole. With beaches and theme parks right at hand, it’s no surprise that many Orlando locals like to have fun on weekends by enjoying fireworks and light shows or just riding Expedition Everest again and again. There’s also a number of sports teams (and sports fans!) in Orlando, so whether you like to play sports or just watch them, you’ll be sure to find plenty of others to join you.

Exploring Orlando on a student budget

Exploring Orlando on a student budget

On a budget in Orlando? It’s possible, if you plan ahead! While Orlando’s generally a pretty budget-friendly city to live in, if you’re just visiting, it can be expensive to buy a bunch of park tickets! Plan ahead and prioritize your favorite parks rather than trying to see them all. Many park tickets have a cheaper daily price if you buy a multi-day ticket, so plan your schedule to explore parks one at a time. Hopper passes can also be more expensive than simply buying separate day passes. In short: do your research in advance and only buy tickets for what you’ll really need!
