What is there to do in Greece?

Greece is one of the highlights of Europe and has a huge amount to see and do. Culture vultures will be mesmerized by the capital, Athens, and its remarkable historical heritage. You can wander around the hill-top Acropolis, known for its ancient ruins and rich past, visit the fabulous Panathenaic Stadium, which is built entirely from white marble, or simply browse the bustling markets and haggle your way to a bargain. And the mainland capital is just the start: no trip to Greece is complete without visiting one of its thousands of idyllic islands, which are dotted throughout the turquoise Mediterranean.

Is Greece affordable for students?

Greece is one of the most affordable places in Europe for students on a tight budget. Basic accommodation can be found in most place for less than $20 per night, and transport within the country (including taxis) is very fairly priced. The food is – do we dare say – some of the best in Europe and if you're eating out every night, you can't go wrong at the tavernas on practically every street.

What's Greek cuisine like?

Omg, so good. SO GOOD. Meals usually come with bread and olive oil (the Greeks are big on olive oil) as standard. Greek salads are always popular, either as a side or main course - they involve cucumber, tomatoes, peppers and olives, with a slab of oregano-sprinkled feta on top. More meaty mains include moussaka, made from thinly-sliced potato, aubergine and lamb; souvlaki and the wrap to end all wraps: gyros. Just try it - you'll never go back.
