New York City: Mobile travel startup, WeHostels, is announcing today that it’s launching a new version of its mobile apps, now offering a wide range of hotels with exclusive discounts as part of their booking options. Until today, WeHostels offered hostels, bed & breakfasts and other types of alternative accommodations.

In late 2013, the company was acquired by StudentUniverse, the leading online travel agency for students and youth. Thanks to the support of the new organization, WeHostels has been able to expand its inventory to include more than 170,000 new hotels to its database, many of which will offer special discounts to WeHostels’ users.

WeHostels’ users will be able to easily filter within the app between hostels and hotels at more than 60,000 locations around the world. The apps will display results tailored to the user’s needs and preferences and will highlight the discounts on the hotels.

“Our users are young, budget-conscious travelers and they generally love to stay in hostels for their social aspect. Yet many users have expressed that they would love to also have the option to book a hotel when they need it.
