Winners of the Inaugural “Best Airlines for Students” Awards Announced

This morning, we announced the winners of the inaugural “Best Airlines for Students” awards.

We work closely with more than 70 airlines globally to offer unique airfare pricing and terms to students and youth. The awards recognize airlines who are best serving students overall (globally), for group travel (booking for ten or more passengers traveling on the same itinerary as part of faculty-led programs or educational, study abroad and volunteer trips) and for travel in specific markets, including the Trans-Pacific market, the Latin market and the South-Pacific market.

“Our airline partners recognize that today’s student travelers are the business travelers of tomorrow and that they have unique travel habits and needs. By forming relationships with travelers while they are young, airlines can tap into a customer base that will grow with them,” said Atle Skalleberg, StudentUniverse CEO. “We are proud to work with airline partners that go above and beyond for student travelers, and help us carry out our mission to make global experiences possible.”
Airlines were chosen based on the volume of bookings, year-over-year sales growth, the terms and pricing they offer to the student market and the extent to which they create special programs and fares that are conducive to the unique travel habits of students.

Our winners in the 2015 “The Best Airlines for Students” Awards by category are:

“Students and young people travelling to broaden their learning whilst experiencing new surroundings and cultures embodies the spirit of Emirates’ being a connector of people and places. Being honored in this way by StudentUniverse is recognition of that spirit,” said Hubert Frach, Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations West – Americas, Africa, Europe and Russian Federation, Emirates. “The airline offers amenities such as free in-flight wi-fi and ice, our award-winning in-flight entertainment system to keep our passengers informed, in touch and entertained during their flights. Emirates now flies from nine US cities, connecting US students and young people with over 140 destinations across six continents, including our home and hub – Dubai. We also look forward to welcoming Orlando to our global network from September 1.”
