Flights to Boston

Summer months can be quite warm and humid, so pack light layers and a sweater or two for cool evenings. If you’re planning on spending some time hiking outside of the city, some bug spray is a good idea too. Winters are pretty cold, so bring snow boots, a good coat, scarves, gloves, etc. In any weather, good walking shoes are a must!

Boston’s a compact city, with the major downtown area easily explorable by walking or taking the subway, aka “the T” around town. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also find bike rentals, like Blue Bikes or Lime Bikes, available around town for a bike ride across the city or along the Charles River.

To be close to all the action, staying in downtown Boston, near Back Bay or near Fenway are all good options. If you’re hoping to save some money, staying just outside of the city—say, in Cambridge or Brookline—keep you just a short subway ride away from all the major things to do while also saving some cash. If a hotel isn’t your style, you’ll find plenty of Airbnbs available in these areas too.

Yes! Boston’s generally quite a safe city, although you should exercise normal city precautions like being cautious at night. Solo travelers will find plenty to do in Boston as well as many public events to meet locals or other travelers, especially in the summer. Boston’s huge student population means there’s plenty of other young people in the city!
