We can all agree that someone’s sex appeal goes beyond a flat 1-10 rating. There are a number of factors that determine an individual’s level of “sexiness,” for example: intelligence, charm, manners and lifestyle, and we’ve taken these and more into consideration in determining the top five sexiest colleges in America:

5. Harvard Un

Location: Cambridge, MA
Sexy factors: Intelligence; post-grad success
Likely to: Impress your parents

Harvard University is a private university located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, just five miles outside of the heart of Boston. Home to about 7,200 undergrads and over 13,000 grad students, it is the breeding ground for many of the future movers and shakers of corporate and political America. Notable alumni include Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Ben Bernanke, and eight of our 43 Presidents.

In addition to these notable alumni, the university continues to produce men and women who go on to create their own success stories, and we can all admit that success is sexy. Harvard dominates the world in terms of its graduates’ net worth – a whopping $622 billion is possessed by just under 3,000 of its alumni (1) – the most of any alumni network that size. These students are clearly doing  something right, and that lands them at number five on our list of sexiest colleges in the US.

4. New York University

Location: New York, NY
Sexy factors: Well-traveled, worldly
Likely to: Inspire you with endless travel tales

Ranked number one in the nation amongst institutions awarding credit for study abroad programs, NYU encourages its students to get out and explore the world. The university also attracts one of the highest numbers of international students. In addition, it has 14 Global Academic Centers, including degree-granting campuses and global academic study away sites on six continents (2).

University President John Sexton stresses that, “If NYU’s role is to properly prepare our students to become engaged and contributing citizens, then in the 21st Century that means becoming citizens of the world.” There’s no denying that a competent, well-traveled individual has a leg up on the competition. Especially in this day and age, knowledge of the world and proficiency in travel is a seriously desirable trait. Experiencing other cultures has been reported to cultivate greater independence, flexibility and self-awareness – all very attractive qualities. In addition, it has been proven time and time again that studying abroad greatly appeals to employers. The skills students hone during their abroad experience are valued in the workplace, opening up a world of opportunity during their job search. And what’s sexier than a guy or girl with serious career potential? The global scale on which NYU operates has molded its students into worldly, well-rounded (and therefore) attractive young people, landing the university at number four on our list.

3. University of Alabama

Location: Tuscaloosa, AL
Sexy factors: Southern charm
Likely to: Sweep you off your feet

How could we not mix in a dash of southern charm when discussing the sexiest school in the country? We all know southern belles and gents have something truly unique and charming to bring to the table, but if you need proof, UA guys and girls received an “A+” rating on Niche, a center for student reviews and insight on college campuses. Accompanying the rating are student-written comments stating that you “won’t find a more friendly group of people anywhere, that UA is a place of “southern charm and great morals,” and that “all of the students are very outgoing and inclusive. If you want to be social it is very easy to do so.”

It can be argued that politeness and an overall set of good manners are very attractive traits in boths guys and girls, and there is an abundance of both on this campus. Both southern belles and gents exude social gracefulness, which is guaranteed to make you swoon. This is why the University of Alabama has landed the number three spot on our list.

2. University of Southern California

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Sexy factors: Sun-kissed skin, posh lifestyle
Likely to: Finally make your “long walk on a beach” dream a reality

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, this campus is home to 19,000 sun-kissed undergrads. Ranked among Business Insider’s top “25 Colleges Where Students Are Both hot and Smart,” USC boasts a thriving Greek system and a top ranking when it comes to the country’s best party schools. And what’s sexier than a smart, motivated individual who still knows how to have a good time?

In addition to all that studying and partying, an average overall temperature of 76.5 degrees encourages plenty of sunbathing and hanging out at the beach.  Whether you want to take a romantic walk on the Venice Beach Boardwalk or if a stroll down Rodeo Drive is more your style, there’s sure to be a hottie on campus who will want to do it with you, which earns this university the number two spot on our list.
