Dining in New York City
Always popular with students, check out the Burger Joint in midtown, Eisenberg’s Sandwich Shop near the landmark Flatiron Building, Moustache for Middle Eastern food in Greenwich Village, and XO Kitchen in Chinatown. Further afield there’s inexpensive classic American fare at Tom’s Restaurant near the Brooklyn Museum in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
Like a stylish diner out of the 1920s, The Nom Wah Tea Parlor in Chinatown on Doyers Street serves the freshest dim sum imaginable. Try the shrimp and snow-pea leaf dumplings and the parsley and scallion rice roll. Flushing, Queens, is also worth the trip for top-rate Chinese food.
Deli food is a must when you’re in New York, and it seems like there is a deli on every other corner. How to choose? Katz’s Deli, in business since 1888, lets you sample the pastrami before ordering one of their mouthwatering mile-high sandwiches. You can wash it down with some tasty matzoh ball soup. It’s perfect comfort food.
