When in doubt, spring break.

Planning the perfect spring break trip can be tricky. You’ve got lots of friends who want different things, you’re on a time crunch and you’ve got a budget to consider. If you’re looking for some inspiration, you might want to look beyond the classic spring break beach trip and head to the city. Think about it: there’s plenty to do, tons to eat, great nightlife and shopping—at the end of the day, there’s something for everyone. Although these aren't the only amazing spring break cities, we'll let you in on some of our faves and give a few reasons why they make our list of top spring break destinations year after year.

Orlando, FL

Orlando tops the list of best spring break destinations year after year, and honestly it’s no surprise. It’s home to more than a dozen theme parks including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter—need we say more? That’s not it, though. Enjoy the sunshine with a hot air balloon ride or kayak around Wekiva Island. Enjoy live music and big parties at Venue578 or The Beacham. Need to cool off? The Ice Bar (the largest ice bar in the world) is where it’s at.

Seattle, WA

Looking for fresh air mixed with the excitement of city life? Sandwiched between two National Parks, Mt. Rainier and Olympic, there's plenty of both in Seattle. Opt outside with some hiking or snap some pics from the top of the Space Needle or the Ferris Wheel. Spend a rainy day inside the Seattle Art Museum or the Museum of Pop Culture, then fill up on street food at Pike Place Market. Plus, it's home to the original Starbucks.

New Orleans, LA

Do we really need to convince you why New Orleans is a good idea? With the energetic French Quarter and Bourbon Street, New Orleans has an almost nonstop live-music scene, plus amazing food and nightlife that brings together the French, American and African roots of the city. While you’re there, catch some live music or live comedy, snack on powdery beignets and shop ‘til you drop at the French Market. Another bonus? Average temps are in the 70s, even in March.

San Francisco, CA

Cool, balmy days, iconic views, shopping and amazing food: what more could you ask for from spring break? Chill out on one of SF’s beaches (hang out on Baker or Marshalls Beach for views of the ocean and the Golden Gate). Take a walk across the Golden Gate and ride a cable car to Fisherman’s Wharf. Or picnic with the locals in Golden Gate Park. Need more epic views? Climb up to the top of Coit Tower for 360° views of the city.

Miami, FL

Warm weather? Check. Miles of amazing beaches? Check. Tons of art and energetic nightlife? Check, check. No matter what you’re looking for in a spring break, Miami is almost always a yes. Cruise down Ocean Drive for views and shopping, sunbathe all afternoon on the beach and then get your fill of amazing Cuban food: Versailles is arguably the most popular, but Sergio’s and El Exquisito are two more go-to’s. Another must-try? Cuban ice cream. Try Azucar's!

Las Vegas, NV

If you’re thinking about heading to Las Vegas for spring break, you probably already have an idea of what you’ll do there. But besides the round-the-clock parties and fancy hotels (don’t miss the Venetian and the Bellagio), Vegas has plenty to do. Ride one of the roller coasters on top of the Stratosphere Hotel Tower for a bit of an adrenaline rush or get your adventuring in at Red Rock Canyon, just 20 minutes from the Strip.

San Diego, CA

San Diego is the perfect place to spend all day at the beach and all night on the town. Surf, go swimming or just sunbathe the day away at one of San Diego’s beaches. Pacific Beach and Coronado are two can’t-miss spots. Soak up the sunshine with kayaking in La Jolla or sample some of San Diego’s amazing food at a beachfront market. Sun starting to set? Kick off your evening with at Wonderland, an oceanfront bar with a sunset happy hour!
