Shopping in Spain
The major mercados (markets) in Spain sell a breathtaking selection of clothing and beautiful fresh flowers, as well as all types of food. There is a mercado in every sizable town. Students who love food are happy to find out that each region has its own must-try specialties that you can buy as gifts or for yourself. Andalusia, for example, sells fantastic olive oil (great presents!) while Galicia packages its signature hot peppers, pimientos de Padron. The towns Paterna and Talavera are renowned for their ceramics. Ceramic tiles make great gifts with a Spanish flair. Other Spanish crafts like guitars, flamenco shoes, and fans are readily available. For affordable, stylish clothing check out Zara stores in the bigger cities.
