Shopping in Peru

In Lima buy beautiful handcrafts and support local craftswomen at the same time! Check out La Casa de la Mujer Artesana Manuela Ramos, at Avenue Brasil, for wonderful presents you’ll want to keep for yourself.
Lima’s shopping is mostly market-type where you can go and negotiate a price for good but most likely fake items. Hit up the Polvos Azules near central Lima to buy cheap clothes, music, shoes, backpacks, spirits, and perfumes. In Cuzco the best shopping is in the open markets where you can bargain; North American travelers may even be able to trade American products for some Cuzco souvenirs. Chinchero Market is an open market in Cuzco that’s always busy with artisans selling their products to locals and travelers, products like handmade wool scarves and blankets. At Cuzco’s Central Market look for plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats.
