Cheap flights to Miami

What did you do in Miami?

While in Miami, I visited relatives and friends and also took advantage of the night life. The major hangout in Miami for socializing and partying with friends is Wet Willies. Wet Willie’s serves great tasting frozen daiquiris, with generous portions of alcohol, at fair prices. The bar is located on Ocean Drive in South Beach. The most popular daiquiri at the bar is the “call a cab.” The drink is light on alcohol yet a tasty treat.

What’s a must see in Miami?

The Beautiful beaches of Miami are a must on a vacation or short trip to Miami. Miami is best known for its beaches and tropical weather. Visitors come from all over the world to enjoy this world-renowned vacation destination. Miami features a diverse selection of beaches. Some are great for people watching, others to spend quality time with the family, or to enjoy water sports. Bal Harbor Beach has a Palm-shaded jogging path that curves around a mile-long beach. There is a jetty for fishing at north end of beach. You can find a metered parking lot beneath Haulover Bridge. No lifeguards or showers are available. Crandon Park Beach in Key Biscayne has three miles of long lagoon style beach protected by 13 lifeguard towers. Beach chairs and umbrella rentals are available.

Most unusual thing you saw or did?

I received a psychic reading while visiting Miami by the prominent Micki Dahne. She has appeared on television hundreds of times, has hosted her own radio shows and provides private psychic readings to her clients. Some of Micki’s clients are famous singers, actors and politicians. When the National Enquirer wants a celebrity prediction, they ask Micki! She works from her hi-rise, oceanfront Miami Beach condo. Micki gets her inspiration from the rolling waves of the Atlantic as she would say. Micki informed me prior to my readings that “Whenever she meets someone, she know things about them, she also sees the progression in their lives, past, present and future.”

What sucked?

The traffic definitely was not the highlight of my trip to Miami. Miami is full of people who grew up in culture which holds rules in contempt and it is a city in which traffic enforcement is nearly nonexistent, except for parking enforcement. If you get on a freeway, be prepared to drive 10, 20, or 30 miles over the speed limit. Do not put your faith in having a green light as the other traffic will not necessarily stop for a red light. If a lane ends and traffic from two lanes must merge into one, expect motorists to zoom about trying to bully their way into the head of the line instead of taking orderly turns. If you can, depend on mass transit for most of your transit. There is an excellent bus service throughout Miami Beach.

Craziest thing that you saw or did?

The craziest thing I saw in Miami was a giant iguana crossing a major road which attracted so many people, the traffic was at a stand still. Surprisingly, Iguanas are not the typical Florida reptile. Unlike Florida’s more famous reptiles like alligators, snakes, and even small lizards, iguanas tend to be overlooked as an animal inhabitant of the state. Maybe it’s because they don’t seem to live north of the Everglades, or maybe they are overlooked because they are a non-native introduced species (much like the common brown lizards that are all over the state, they came over by stowing away on boats from Cuba). The common story for how the iguanas began to thrive in the wild is that people had pets that got too big so they let the iguanas go loose. The iguanas decided that Florida’s climate was close enough to their native Central and South American climate, and since then the iguanas numbers have been multiplying. This was an amazing sight to see because this lizard was as big as a full grown large dog!

What was the culture of the city like?

Diverse. Miami is a melting pot for different ethnic backgrounds which makes it so unique. The signs of Miami’s cultural diversity are everywhere, from the Markets and clothing shops in Little Haiti to the multilingual executive offices of Visa International near Miami International Airport. By far, the three things I think are the greatest things in Miami are the weather, the beaches and the diversity of people. In a lot of ways, Miami is setting up the prototype of the international city of the future.

Best places to party?

Club Bed is the best place to party in Miami, hands down. Anyone can make a reservation at BED in South Beach, which may comprise of a king size plush lounge area and a couple bottles of your drink of choice. The two (or more) of you can hop in the sack for a little dinner then party until dawn at a restaurant that replaces tables with plush, king-sized beds and mood music that heats-up as the night rolls on. An acronym for beverage, entertainment and dining, B.E.D. takes sensual surroundings to a whole new level. Bed is a restaurant/lounge which offers divine dining, an enchanting interior and edgy entertainment. Feast your eyes on the Erotica Dinner Theater, where fetish cabaret performances add a little spice to the aphrodisiac cuisine.
