Cheap flights to San Diego

What did you do in San Diego?

While in San Diego, a Thursday to Sunday trip this August, I combined the perfect mix of sightseeing, partying, and relaxing. My flight didn’t arrive from little Rhode Island until the around 10PM. My friend Tim who had an internship in San Diego all summer picked me up from the airport with a welcoming hug and said “man up Kate, we’re going OUT !” Clearly it didn’t take much for me to say “alright San Diego, show me what you’ve got”. We went over to a friend’s place in Pacific Beach then into the city, a quick walk away (especially in the perfect weather). We went to Pacific Beach Bar and Grill, which combines out door laid back seating in the front, a boisterous bar in the middle, and a multileveled dance floor and dj in the back. What else could you ask for?

Friday was all sightseeing. We also went to a famous hotel in Coronado a quick drive “down the five”, San Diego’s highway. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and called for a quick change into something fancy. There we shared a bottle of wine and an appetizer at the bar which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. It was breathtaking. After a few hours of what we knew our parents wanted us to do, it was time to go back out in downtown. We had so much fun at the bar the previous night we had to go again.

On Saturday we forced ourselves to wake up, hurting a bit from the night before, to make sure we got in some beach time. There are some gorgeous beaches in Rhode Island but nothing compares to Pacific Beach. The sand is perfect and stretches so far before you get to the water. Minus some seaweed the water was perfect. The waves crash far out, and it was exactly like the California beach in the movies.
That night we heard about a music fest called Street Scene in downtown. It was a blast and I got to see MIA, again after ending up in Pacific Beach at a bar/club called Typhoon. Sunday we got invited to a pool party in some young party complex. Multiple pools, Jacuzzis and jello shots kept us more than entertained until making our way back to the airport.

What’s a must see in San Diego?

A must see is the Sunset Cliffs. The waves crash all around the rocks which you can climb on.

Most unusual thing you saw or did?

The most unusual thing I did was drunkenly thinking that a hot dog wrapped in bacon at the music fest was a good idea to eat. Never again.

What sucked?

Having to leave :( . And it seemed like parking was really scarce.

Favorite thing in San Diego?

Favorite thing was the concert we went to. Multiple stages with all different types of music, a beer garden, and hundreds of twenty some things jumping around to the music.

Craziest thing that you saw or did?

Partying before my 10:30 flight, but I made it – so that’s all that counts.

What was the culture of the city like?

The culture is a laid back, accepting and excited for life.

Best places to party?

Pacific Beach Bar and Grill and Typhoon were the best places to party.
