Things to do in Stockholm

Stockholm has many different attractions from sports to sightseeing but it is best if done by foot so bring some comfy shoes! There are many great guided tours offered in the city by boat, bus, or foot. In Stockholm you are never far from a great beach. While some might be crowded the best places to go are the island Langholmen, the chlild-friendly Smedsuddsbadet, and Fredhallsbadet on western Kungsholmen. The sports scene is really intense in Stockholm and is definitely worth the shot. For soccer, the AIK plays at the large Rasunda stadium. As for ice hockey, Djurgarden plays some of their home games in Floben, a giant Stockholm Globe Arena. There is also Bandy, a native sport which is played in Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Hammarby plays their home games at Zinkensdamms IP. Stockholm also has a great amusement park called Grona Lund which has pretty much standard attractions. Nightlife in Stockholm

The most famous nightlife hotspot in Stockholm is Stureplan, located at the crossing of Birger Jarlgatan, Kungsgatan, and Sturegatan. It is known to have high entrance fees and long lines but also great music and club-goers. The major streets for bars are Gotgatan, Bondegatan, and Rorstrandsgatan. Most restaurants and bars close at 1AM while larger clubs close at 3AM. Try to look in the free monthly magazine Nojesguiden, the newspaper Dagens Nyheter on Thursdays, and the free metro and Stockholm City on Fridays to find some great deals and places to go out.

Colleges and Classes in Stockholm

Stockholm has over twenty universities and colleges. Some of the most famous of those are Stockholm University, the Royal Institute of Technology, and Sodertorn University College. There is also Karolinska Institutet, a world-class medical university. Also in the city there are several fine arts universities.

Travel From Stockholm

Since Stockholm is located on a group of islands, the way to get out of the city is by traveling to the other outlying islands. One that is good is the Lovo island where you can find Drottingholm Palace where the Royal family lives, which is accessible by public transportation. It is beautiful and has many different open spaces where you can sit and chill. There’s also Birka, the site of a former Viking city, located on the island of Bjorko. There are boats that can take you there for a fee. Another great place is Sigtuna, an old medieval town in Sweden.
