Things to do in Paris
The most famous sight in Paris by far is the Eiffel Tower. The huge landmark is world famous and stand out above the rest of the city buildings. Lit up at night with a twinkling light show hourly, this sight is simply stunning. Definitely not something to miss, although how could you possibly miss it? The Louvre is the most famous museum in the city. Be prepared to do a lot of walking since this building is in three sections and is enormous. Many famous pieces call this museum home like Leonardo DaVinci’s Mona Lisa and Antonio Canova’s Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss. Picasso Museum and Musee d’Orsay are also lovely museums with excellent galleries.
Nightlife in Paris
Not only is Paris considered the City of Light, it is also the city of fun, excitement, and great music. In keeping with good European techno club culture, most clubs here play a mix of American hip hop and Euro techno. Rue Oberkampf is where much of the younger club-going crowd can be found. There are live dancers, lazers, multi-level complexes, and great drinks that keep the night going til dawn. Students who study in Paris go to Le Cab, Les Bains, Buddha Bar, and Le Baron. Girls should always travel in groups or at least pairs. And all college students be advised to carry some form of ID.
Colleges and Classes in Paris
Paris may be a cultural hub and fashion forward city. However education is just as important here. The historic University of Paris has been around since the 13th century. And was founded in 1257 by Robert de Sorbon. You should check with your home University before choosing a school, since many schools have partnerships and relationships with abroad schools. No matter where you end up going, you might want to consider taking a course in French history or government. It makes for an enriching experience and nice comparison to your home country. Also Parisian cuisine courses and art history or drawing courses are very popular here as well.
Travel From Paris
Paris is a very accessible from many other places. Due to its convenient location, travel in and out of France is easy and inexpensive. Rouen, Reims, and Troyes are close by and have great culture and things to see. Outside of the country, Italy, Switzerland, and the U.K. are close by. You can very easily reach Switzerland and Italy by train. A little bit of a further journey would be into Germany. From the southern coast of France there is Nice, Cannes, and Monaco. These cities are so beautiful and easy to get to. From there an overnight train to Italy is one stop away.
