Munich is known for it’s world renowned museums so make sure to see a few. The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site and Deutsches Museum are both great to check out. Be warned, the first one is a very adult experience and children should not be taken along. There is also the National Bavarian Museum, Museum of Applied Arts, German Theatre Museum, and Jewish Museum which all offer a unique and good experience. Another big event that college students will definitely enjoy is the annual Oktoberfest beer festival. It takes place on October 12 and features many different types of breweries who all have their own tents. Each tent features musicians leading traditional beer chants, bar maids hoisting traditional drinking glasses, and tons of beer and food! Although there are long lines for food and bathroom it is always a fun time had by all.

Munich has great opportunities outside the city when you just want to get away from it all. You can take a train from the Marienplatz S-Bahn stations to a lot of great places. You can get a group rate of 27 euros for up to 5 people. From Munich you can go to Dachau and Stanberg which feature a great lake. You can also check out the Andechs Monastery where you can see the old monastery church and gardens and check out the great beer and food in the large beer hall there.
