Study Abroad in Mumbai
Mumbai is an exciting place to study abroad. For college students who aren’t afraid of a little shake up in scenery and living somewhere completely out of this world, this place is for you. Now this isn’t the kind of place you go if you’re a type A. However if you can live without some of the luxuries for a few months then you will see a world that is relatively hidden to the rest of the world. Previously known as Bombay, Mumbai is the largest city in India with a little over 17 million and also one of the largest slum cities. There is also a great port business, since the city is on an island off the coast of the continent. Being the center of the Hindi film industry and Bollywood makes this about the most eclectic city you will find in India. Take a few months to experience a place very special and unique that otherwise you may never get a chance to see.

Things to do in Mumbai
All the names on monuments in Mumbai are named based on what country was holding power at the time. For example when Great Britain had rule monuments built at the time had the name Victoria put on them. It’s interesting during your time studying in the city to take note of all the different monuments because there are many. The majority of the tourists head to South Mumbai where you will find the majority of the main sights. There are the most famous art galleries, great beaches, and colonial buildings. The colonial buildings came about when the British had rule over the city. The walls of Fort St. George run the length of the city limits and enclose all the buildings and streets inside. The Prince of Wales Museum and National Gallery of Modern Art definitely need to be seen while abroad. A trip to Mumbai would not be complete without a day at Chowpatty Beach. Besides that go to the northwest coast to find the other good beaching opportunities. Since studying abroad in Mumbai is all about immersion into the culture taking a tour of the slums would be educational and eye popping to say the least. There are so many things to do while living here you may never get to them all. You will at least have a great time seeing some amazing things.
Nightlife in Mumbai
Indian beer is interesting and very unique. You will have plenty of opportunities when living or visiting here to enjoy all the drinks offered. Unlike other parts of India, Mumbai is relatively liberal in their attitudes towards consuming alcohol and there are actually a lot of bars in town; another great plus to studying abroad here. For you girls studying abroad it might be a good idea to go with a guy or two. The attitude here is more relaxed towards women drinking, but it’s always a good idea to be on the safe side. With that said there are some really great places to kick back and grab a drink. Indigo is a real upscale posh lounge. Toto’s Garage Pub is a good pregaming place with locals and tourists intermingling. If you are looking for Bollywood music and a chill dance scene go to Poison or Enigma.
