Things to do in Budapest
The Dunabe River and hills of Buda are a clear landmark of the city. Gorgeous views of the river and city around it can be seen from all the surrounding hills. Around Castle Hill is the Royal Palace, National Gallery, Fisherman’s Bastion, Matthias Church and a whole slew of museums. The Parliament Building and Great Synagogue and the Jewish Museum are in downtown along with St. Stephen Cathedral. Operas and classical music are also a main attraction in Budapest at one of the many Opera houses. Or in the Buda hills you can go cave walking.
Nightlife in Budapest
One of the best nightlife experiences in Budapest is going to a Borozó which is a wine pub that usually serves local wine on tap. It is served to your table and tends to be very inexpensive. Pest is the best area for cheaper drinks and places to hang out. While Castle Hill is where you will find the more expensive, upscale places, it’s not as frequented by college students. Whatever you do, be sure to try Traubi Szoda and Marka which are traditional Turkish sweet drinks.
Colleges and Classes in Budapest
A Tan Kapuja Buddhist College, Bhaktivedanta Theological College, Gábor Dénes College, Budapesti Gazdasági College, and Magyar Táncmuvészeti College are just some to name a few. There are many options here to choose from when it comes to studying in Budapest. Many colleges offer a variety of classes that fit every major. Just check with your home university first to make sure that all of the credits will transfer over!
Travel From Budapest
There are many cool places to visit right around Budapest. In Hungary, Szentendre is a cute city that has the Hungarian Open-Air Museum. There are several ancient buildings here as well as churches and artifacts. Austria, Slovakia, and Romania are the main bordering countries and are all very easy to get to through public transportation. Eurorail trains will take you to any of the main cities in these countries. You can book a ticket through student universe to save some money and effort ahead of time. The cities directly around Budapest are all lovely and some have some pretty great buildings and historical beauty.
