Miami is a place with excellent beaches, great weather, and warm water. Where the temperature is always in the 80’s and a rainy day usually means a half hour max of drizzle, it is no wonder why this gorgeous city is a destination for vacationers. During spring break this city gears up for a crazy few weeks of non stop fun and excitement. MTV’s spring break crew sets up camp along with a few other notables like Playboy and Girls Gone Wild. The parties run all day and night. And you are never too far from loud music and good drinks.

Activities

South Beach is where the party’s at. This newly dubbed spring break hot spot sees a lot of action during spring break. Right in the historic Art Deco district of Miami is the best place to find a hotel or hostel and spend your week. The public beaches are really nice and the water feels like you’re taking a bath. The Port of Miami is a major dock for several cruise lines. You can opt to take a couple-day cruise around the Carribean if that interests. Or just take a stroll around the port and admire the large ships. Lummus Park Beach is famous and on certain days there will be photo shoots and camera crews mulling around. Haulover Beach Park is best known for its surfing and windsurfing. Both beaches are nude beaches. Looking for something else to do? Dolphine Stadium is located here. You can take a tour and see the museum with historical events and items from the many seasons and players.

Nightlife

Hotel clubs, nightclubs, and bars are what make up the nightlife scene in Miami. The bars and smaller establishments are easy to get into. However if you’re looking to go to the nightclubs, you’d better be dressed to impress. Many girls you’ll see with little clothing and impossibly high heels, and guys trying to outdo each other–it is quite the spectacle. If you are in a large group of men, add women to your group or split up. You’ll have a better chance of getting in that way. The waiting lines are ridiculously long, yet people seem willing to stand outside for hours with hope of seeing the inside of these clubs. We suggest you check out the bars and smaller places, which boast shorter lines and plenty of fun. Rose Bar at the Delano is very sophisticated. Skybar is very hard to get in, even if your name is on the list. M-Bar has a chic dress code that must be followed for entrance. Mr. Moe’s has a great selection of beers on tap. And finally the Greenstreet Cafe has nice outdoor seating while you sip on cocktails.

Travel Tips

Most hotels offer free wireless internet, including the Miami International Airport. Miami is often in the news for crime and drug smuggling. And while this is certainly a concern to address, it shouldn’t be a deterrent, just remember to use common sense and stay safe! Remember to let someone who is not going on the trip know where you are going in the event of an emergency. For spring break, leave the flashy jewelery and designer duds at home, and opt for something a bit more inconspicuous. And have fun!
