Day Activities

During the day there are loads of fun and exhilarating activities. Fat Tuesdays, the MTV hotspot is always alive and bumping with live guests and tons of great music. You can drink on the beach as well. At the Oasis Hotel there are several pool-side bars, wild beach contests and volleyball tournaments. You can also set up camp on one of the local public beaches. After all there are miles of beach. For an exciting day trip, there are tours to the ancient Mayan Ruins at Talum or the Temple of Kulucan a Chichen Itza. Cancun is also home to the second largest coral reef in the world. Scuba diving adventures give spring breakers a great view of the tropical wonders of the sea. If you have time you can even swim with the dolphins.

Nightlife

There are over 200 bars and nightclubs along the hotel zone. As much as this city is known for it’s exciting days, it is almost more famous for it’s fantastic nightlife. World famous clubs like Dady’O, La Boom, The Myth, Coco Bongo, and Senior Frogs will make your spring break one of the most unforgettable trips of your life. It is fairly easy to jump around from club to club and most don’t have too high cover charges. Some have no cover charge. The drinking age in Mexico is 18. A lot of places don’t card, but it’s a good idea to keep some I.D. on you just in case. If you are planning a trip to Cancun, make sure to plan a night on the booze cruise. It is a spring break staple here.

Travel Tips

The currency in Cancun, as well as the rest of Mexico, is the peso. The exchange rate fluctuates daily, however typically you’ll get more for your dollar. The time zone is Central Time. You must have an updated passport to get into Cancun, since it is part of Mexico. At the airport you will be required to fill out a tourist card, which you must carry with you and will be terminated at the end of your stay. You can also obtain one of these at any Mexican Consulate. The main language here is Spanish, however most people speak English. It may be helpful to know a few words or phrases if taking a day tour outside the city.
