Minneapolis
Minneapolis is a great city located in the heart of Minnesota and home to the Vikings football team, Walker Art Center, Guthrie Theatre, and the Mill City Museum. No wonder it was listed in Forbes Top 30 cities to visit. The mississippi River runs through Minneapolis adding to the beautiful scenery. This metropolis has turned itself into a great place not only to visit, but also to work and live.

Things to do in Minneapolis
Catch a viking’s game if you are coming during NFL season. Head over to one of the wondrous lakes and check out all the summer and winter activities. Or you could spend a few days at the Mall of America. Yes, a few days in a mall. The Mall of America is the largets in the U.S. and is quite amazing with over 500 stores, attractions like the Nickelodeon Universe, Lego Imagination Center, NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway and Moose Mountain Adventure Golf. This mall even has a 14 screen movie theater, dozens of restaurants, and a hotel. If that’s not reason enough to go, keep in mind this mall has its’ own zip code and four miles of ground to cover!
Nightlife in Minneapolis
The vibe in Minneapolis is relaxed for the most part. There are hundreds of pubs and bars throughout the city. There are a few nightclubs as well with some techno and hip hop music. The Mall of America also has some great after hour watering holes. A lot of places play live music at night, attracting great lively crowds. Make sure to check out Brit’s pub which has a bowling green on their roof along with showings of movies in the summer for free! Also, be sure to stop by Cabooze for some live music.
Dining in Minneapolis
Dinkytown and the Northeast, two sections of Minneapolis, have tasty and affordable food. There are a lot of choices here with a lot of different ethnic foods. If you are looking for something quick on a cart, try one of this city’s delicious gyros, cheap and delicious. There seems to be a big emphasis on locally grown and organic foods, making Minneapolis a great and healthy place to dine!
Shopping in Minneapolis
The Mall of America hands down has the best variety and options for shopping in this city. The Uptown area of Minneapolis has great shopping as well. The warehouse district, which was once several industrial buildings, was transformed into beautiful galleries, restaurants, and shops. Also, Hennepin Avenue also has some great stores and is worth taking a stroll down.
Minneapolis travel tips
- The public transportation in Minneapolis gets all around the city, so check out the bus routes before you go.
- Be careful and safe around the Near North, Camden, and Phillips communities at night.
- Canoeing down the several lakes that run through Minnesota is definitely a day trip to consider.
