Columbus is the capital of Ohio and is centrally located in the state. With Ohio State University located at the heart of the city, Columbus has experienced incredible growth both financially and physically growth. However it still remains loyal to its agricultural history as one can find a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables from the local producers. The Capital City, as its fondly known as will surprise you with its cutting edge culture and busy downtown eateries in this great American City.

Things to do in Columbus

A trip to Columbus cannot be complete without a stop at High Street. From the many eateries to the art district, High Street has something for everyone. Continue down High Street and you will come upon Ohio State University. Check out the Horseshoe, the legendary football stadium of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Columbus also has many annual festivals from the ComFest music festival to Red, White, and Boom, the traditional July 4th celebration in downtown Columbus.

Nightlife in Columbus

Columbus has a great variety of restaurants, bars, and lounges for when the sun sets. The Refectory, Haiku, and Dragonfly are some of the best hidden gems of Columbus for fine dining. For a drink to wash down dinner, Bodega Cafe is a great place with over 50 beers on tap. For a more trendy spot, Boma is a lounge and night club that mixes cocktails with art. The arena district, downtown, is where the Columbus Blue Jacket hockey team plays along with some of the most exciting bars and restaurants in Columbus.

Dining in Columbus

Columbus is an ethnically diverse city and its dining life reflects that. There are Ethiopian restaurants next to Indian restaurants on High street and Irish pubs across the street. The variety of cultures mixed with the local produce creates a gastronomical adventure sure to please.The North Market, a farmers market and cafeteria hybrid is the best example. There are fresh produce and meat stands next to delicious Vietnamese Pho noodle shops. There are also local specialties such as fried sauerkraut balls and breakfast plates smothered in gravy that will convince you, they like to eat in Columbus.

Shopping in Columbus

There are many great shopping places in Columbus. The Short North, a neighborhood just north of downtown, is home to many cafes, art galleries, and other creative shops. The first Saturday of every month is the Gallery hop. All of the stores open their doors and stay open late creating a very lively and entertaining experience. There is also the Easton Town Center, a open air mall with upscale stores and restaurants designed with something for everyone in the family. The Polaris Mall is the more traditional mall with the common anchor names and store brands that one would expect.
