Compelling Chicago has something for every mood and interest. The Art Institute of Chicago and The Chicago Cultural Center are a must for art lovers. History buff shouldn’t miss Lincoln Park, home of the Alexander Hamilton Monument and the Alfred Calwell Lily Pool. Beaches and lakes await sun-worshipers while the Burnham Nature Sanctuary and Columbus Park Lagoon and Woodland beckon nature-lovers. Nightlife in Chicago
There’s never a lonely night in Chicago, thanks to the multitude of bars, cocktail lounges, dance clubs, jazz and blues clubs, live music venues, pubs, and sports bars. When some cool dude says “Transit,” he’s probably not referring to the trains but to one of Chicago’s hottest night spots in the West Side. Pop’s for Champagne in Lake View is another one you might like to try.
Dining in Chicago
With more than 7,000 restaurants (and, as Chicagoans claim, all of them good) all over the city, you’ll never go hungry in Chicago. There’s got to be one to suit your ethnic preference, appetite, and budget. Not to be missed are the famous hot dogs and deep-dish Chicago-style pizza topped with anything you can imagine: cheese, tomato sauce, sausage, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, ground beef, anchovies, or many more. For gourmet dining, there’s Tru and Charlie Trotter’s, among many more.
Shopping in Chicago
In Chicago, you’ll feel like you’ve missed out if you don’t visit any (or all) of the major department stores, independent boutiques, world-famous fashion labels, and unique specialty shops. A stroll along the Magnificent Mile (along Michigan Avenue from the Chicago River to Oak Street), and in places such as Lincoln Avenue, Clark Street, Armitage Avenue or Halsted Street will reveal a lot of interesting gotta-have goodies, such as clothes, accessories, shoes, bags, collectibles, and many more.
