Atlanta
Atlanta is the largest and capital city of Georgia. Though Atlanta is known as a ‘city of trees’ or ‘city in a forest,’ you don’t have to worry about being surrounded by a forest canopy all the time. It’s tallest landmark, the Bank of America Plaza, is 1,023 feet tall! It’s the tallest building in America outside of Chicago and New York. This “New Southern” city has several vibrant features, such as Underground Atlanta, a historic shopping and entertainment complex beneath the streets of downtown Atlanta. So find student travel deals and visit this fast growing international city. Must-see attractions include the Georgia Aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium and the new World of Coca-Cola. Here you can taste different pes of Coke products from all over the world. Atlanta has of a humid subtropical climate, so the best times to visit are spring (7-27 C or 44- 80 F on the average) and autumn (7-28 C or 44-82 F). Things to do in Atlanta
Atlanta offers many different attractions to suit individual taste’s. You might want to check out Centennial Park and other attractions downtown or in the Historic King District. To get a 360-degree panoramic view of this architecturally rich city, try the Sundial on the Westin Peachtree or Nikolai’s Roof on the Hilton. This might not be the optimal spring break idea, but Atlanta is connected by Amtrak to New York, Philadelphia, Washington and New Orleans so it’s easy to get to, and offers a rich blend of old and post-modern sights, history, culture, and fun. When you visit Georgia Aquarium, don’t miss the chance to swim with the whale sharks.
Nightlife in Atlanta
Atlantans and out-of-towners flock to the Buckhead district. Younger people love to dance in the Andrews Cafe of the Aiko Lounge while others prefer the Beluga Martini Bar. You must dress to impress here, so if high-fashion’s not your thing, then maybe you’d prefer the Midtown, where a lot visitors from other states or countries go. There are many watering holes Downtown. One is Stats, a sports bar for watching games near the Centennial Olympic Park.
Dining in Atlanta
Atlanta is home to several famous chefs and is renowned for Southern cuisine. There are many dining landmarks like the revolving Sun Dial Restaurant but you might want to try the Varsity, the world’s biggest drive-in restaurant or the Buford Highway Dining, where authentic international cuisine can be found in one street and you can sample delicious and fresh seafood.
Shopping in Atlanta
Atlanta is known as one of the top 10 retail markets in the U.S., and if you want to find antiques, arts and crafts stores, thrift stores and boutiques, then you’ve found the right place. Atlantic Station downtown is the best place for boutiques, sidewalk cafes, hip restaurants and more, complete with street scape and Central Park.
