Things to do in Kristiansand
One of the most exciting things that Kristiansand has to offer is the world-renowned Quart Festival. This multi-day music festival is the largest of its kind in Norway. With better bands coming each year, this festival is known to locals as something not to be missed. Make this a wild spring break by hitting up the Quart Festival. Kristiansand also has some really great places to walk around and some pretty cool things to see. The Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park, Kristiansand Dyrepark in Norwegian, just east of the city, and has tons of animals to see in their natural habitats. The park also features different rides, shows, and play areas, as well as a pirate castle with Norway’s favorite pirate Captain Sabretooth. Admission is about $45 US in the peak season. Also be sure to check out the Fiskebrygga, or Fish Market, located in the southwestern part of the town center. Along with the old fish market, you can find many seafood restaurants around the waterfront.
Nightlife in Kristiansand
The best place to go at night in Kristiansand is the Twist and Shout, Markengata next to McDonalds. They have a great bar and tiki lounge on the main floor, and a bar and dance floor downstairs. Beer is known to be expensive, but worth the check-out if you’re looking for a great Friday or Saturday Night on your wild spring break.
Dining in Kristiansand
If you like seafood then Kristiansand has you covered! Hit up Sjohuset, Kristiansand’s main seafood restaurant. There you can sit on a pier near Nupen Park and enjoy many different and tasty seafood dishes. Most of the restaurants also serve traditional Norwegian cuisine. Also be sure to check out Egon Restaurant, connected to the Scandic Hotel right on the main shopping street of Kristiansand.
Shopping in Kristiansand
Markens gate is the main place to shop in Kristiansand. There are tons of chain stores but also a few independent stores. Locals gather there to do their shopping during the week and it is known to have fair prices.
