Belfast, the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, is known for it’s rich culture and beautiful scenery. The second largest city in Ireland, Belfast has an abundance of libraries and museums, as well as hot night clubs and bars that open each year and attract thousands of students world wide. Things to do in Belfast
Belfast is full of rich culture and modern day attractions, not to mention a lot of free things to do right in the city. There are a lot of neat murals throughout the city and a lot of tours that cater to them. There are also a lot of great bars which serve local Irish beer, known to the locals as some of the best in the world. One great bar is the Crown Liquor Saloon located in the Golden Mile opposite the Europa Hotel. To see a great movie or IMAX film, check out the Odyssey Centre. There you can also find the Odyssey Arena, home to Belfast’s own hockey team the Giants, a bowling alley, and tons of restaurants and bars. Belfast also has a lot of great parks and gardens where you can spend a relaxing day walking around and seeing the sights. The city is also jam-packed with different museums where you can learn about whatever interests you.
Nightlife in Belfast
Belfast is known for it’s great bars and disco’s, which cater predominantly to students and young people. Bars like Auntie Annie’s Porterhouse, The Rotterdam Bar, Pats Bar, The Spaniard, Duke of York, and Whites Tavern are all great places to chill and grab a few drinks. There are also great theatres which feature great plays and operas. These include the Grand Opera House and The Lyric Theatre.
Dining in Belfast
Belfast has a restaurant for every taste, just pick which one you are in the mood for! Great places include Little Italy Pizza, Doorsteps Sandwiches, Maggie Mays, Clements Coffee, Nex D’Or, and Loaf Cafe.
Shopping in Belfast
Northern Ireland’s largest indoor market, St. George’s, is a cool place to get anything you can think of, from food to clothing and crafts. They are open Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 6am to 2pm. There is also No Alibis, known to locals as the finest independent bookstore in Ireland.
