Cheap flights to Barcelona

French Riviera & Costa del Sol

If you’re looking to experience the lifestyle of the rich and famous this spring break, the French Riviera and Costa del Sol are the best places to start. From the sophistication of Barcelona to the glitz and glamour of Monaco, this region offers chic lounges, happening salsa clubs and excellent restaurants – all available to students on a budget. But remember, sundown is only half the experience. During the day, you’ll tour the French countryside near Nice, hang out at sidewalk cafés in St. Tropez, learn to tack and jib off the coast of Barcelona and enjoy fresh Paella in the seaside village of Sitges. Join SnoworSand for this European spring break and tour the Mediterranean in style!

You’ll kick off your Mediterranean coastal tour in Barcelona, considered by many to be among the most beautiful and sophisticated cities in the world. From its famous cuisine of Tapas and sangria to its rich artistic heritage and happening nightlife, any trip to Europe would be incomplete without experiencing this incredible city. Besides a day trip to the tiny fishing village of Sitges, you’ll explore the labyrinthine Gothic Quarter, wander Gaudi’s famous Parque Guell and try to catch an FC Barcelona match at Camp Nou, the largest football stadium in Europe.

Your next stop will be the city of Nice on the French Riviera. Here, art aficionados can tour an abundance of famous museums, archaeological buffs can explore ancient Roman ruins, and those who simply wish to relax over a cocktail will find an abundance of sunny beaches and sidewalk bars and cafes. You’ll explore the winding streets of Vieux Nice (old Nice) for its incredible shopping, dining and nightlife and embark on a tour of the picturesque French countryside that has long defined this region. You’ll also take a day trip to Cannes, home to the famous international film festival, with its beautiful beaches, chic boutiques and people watching among the rich and famous.

Next up is Saint Tropez, one of Europe’s top party locales. After a day of shopping and leisure, you’ll throw it down in one of the town’s trendy lounges and nightclubs. You’ll also spend an evening amongst the manicured gardens, stately palaces and world-class casinos of Monaco. Watch out for card sharks and 20 dollar highballs. It’s easy to get caught up in this fast-paced, jet set lifestyle. But don’t worry. SnoworSand will make sure you get back to Nice by morning to catch your flight home.

Volunteer, live with a host family, and sneak in the sights, all in a week or two. Forget t-shirt souvenirs. You’ll come back with unforgettable stories and memories of a lifetime.

Romania: Villages, Vampires and Volunteering

Situated in Eastern Europe, Romania is a country rich in natural resources as well as history and culture. The orphanage program is located in the village of Valea Screzii, a rural area in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. The local way of life has changed very little over the last hundred years, with horses and carts still a regular sight on the roads. Volunteers can explore this area while helping out in the orphanage and learning more about Romanian life. Visit nearby castles and villages and take a stab at learning a few Romanian words and phrases (lessons provided)!

Costa Rica: Pura Vida

An ecotourism hotspot, Costa Rica is most known for its amazing natural beauty and biodiversity. See what the country of “Pura Vida” is all about by volunteering on one of United Planet’s numerous, diverse projects. Environmental projects range from conservation work in the cloud forest to supporting ecotourism initiatives and protecting endangered sea turtle beaches. Get a glimpse of the famed Tico lifestyle and you’ll never want to go home!

Experience both natural and cultural diversity in Ecuador. Considered a microcosm of South America, Ecuador boasts both natural and cultural diversity, with over 12 distinct bio-diverse zones and multiple ethnic groups. Ecuador’s Incan heritage is reflected in the many historic buildings in the south of Quito and the mysterious ruins of Ingapirca. Volunteer projects include working with kids from lower income families at a day care in South Quito, or protecting the environment by planting organic coffee and identifying flora and fauna in the cloud forest. Eight hours of semi-private Spanish classes per week included for Quito programs.

Guatemala: A Kaleidoscope of Sensations

Immerse yourself in local culture and language in the heart of the beautiful Sierra Madre mountains, in Quetzaltenango. The traditional dress and customs of the Maya and ancient ruins from the days of empire are part of the allure of Guatemala. Travelers also come to explore nearby volcanoes, hot springs and majestic Lake Atitlan. Volunteers can empower women and children at a shelter for domestic abuse victims or teach English and organize activities at a boy’s orphanage. Brush up on your Spanish while you’re there with 10 hours of Spanish classes per week included. One-to-two-day trekking options are also available.

Explore Peru’s living past in the city of Cuzco, ancient seat of the Inca Empire. Peru is an archaeologist’s dream: the ruins of several ancient civilizations can be found within the country’s borders. But, while 300,000 tourists visit Machu Picchu every year, all of them stopping through Cuzco, poverty levels in the Sacred Valley remain high. Volunteers help to alleviate poverty at wide range of community centers in Cuzco. For a week, United Planet volunteers can work with street children and live with host families. All Quests include four hours of Spanish or Quechua classes and a trip to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

London & Dublin

True to their reputation, London and Dublin have something for everyone. For history buffs, there’s the Dublinia Exhibition and British National Museum. For drama fanatics, there’s the Globe and Abbey theaters. For sports fiends, there’s rugby, football and cricket. And for those who simply want to relax over a pint, there’s Irish pubs and English taverns. Whatever your interest, join SnoworSand for eight days in two incredible cities.

You’ll get started in London, also known as the ‘world in one city’ for its blend of people and culture that have shaped the town’s unique style and energy. You’ll visit top sites like Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, sample world famous curry, and get rowdy at a Chelsea football match if they’re in town — all with a local expert to show you the way. Between high tea at Kensington palace and a pint at a local tavern, you’ll get a true taste of the English lifestyle and culture.

Your next stop is Ireland. After a short ferry ride over St. George’s Channel, you’ll visit Dublin’s top sites, including the Dublin Castle, the Guinness Store House and the historic Temple District. Afterward, you’ll visit the “Brazen Head,” Dublin’s oldest pub famous for its live music, vibrant crowds and Irish storytellers. And of course, no visit to Ireland would be complete without a tour of the verdant countryside, complete with a mountaintop champagne picnic and a castle tour. Your trip will finish with one last visit to London before you catch your flight back to the States.

Amsterdam & Paris

Amsterdam: Eccentric, creative and open-minded. Paris: Eloquent, informed and romantic. During this eight day European spring break tour, you’ll get face-to-face with the best of each, seeing first hand how unique blends of culture and energy have placed these cities among the most famous and progressive destinations in the world. You’ll visit top sites like the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe in Paris as well as the Van Gogh Museum and Red Light District in Amsterdam. You’ll embark on bike tours and canal cruises and check out live jazz shows and rock concerts. Join SnoworSand and let them show you what it means to travel in style.

You’ll start off your European spring break by touring Amsterdam like the locals do: by bike. You’ll visit famous museums, cathedrals and historic landmarks via the city’s extensive network of bike paths and bridges. After resting your legs at one of the city’s famous coffee houses, you’ll head out on the town for live music, drinking and dancing. Before you leave, you’ll visit the Anne Frank house and Heineken Experience and haggle with local vendors and artisans at the famous Albert Cuyp Market.

Just as you get comfortable, you’ll depart Amsterdam for three days in Paris. Visit the city’s top sites, including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the majestic Arc de Triomphe while getting in touch with the ins-and-outs of the city’s culture with your local guide. You’ll embark on a day trip to the famed Palace of Versailles, with its beautifully manicured gardens and towering marble fountains, and take frequent breaks at the city’s famous sidewalk cafes. After eight days, hundreds of miles, and countless incredible experiences, you’ll catch your flight home.

Morocco Arabian Nights

Once your plane touches down in Casablanca, you’ll realize why travelers have long been fascinated by Morocco’s unique culture and extraordinary landscapes. Strolling the street markets of Marrakesh, you’ll feel as if you’re on the set of an Indiana Jones film. Yes, snake charmers do exist, so snap plenty of pics to show your friends back home. Join SnoworSand and get ready for an eight-day spring break excursion that will have you trekking the Sahara by camel, relaxing at the beaches in Essaouira and camping under the desert stars.

SnoworSand’s North African excursion will begin in Casablanca, where their local guide will meet the group and transfer you to Marrakesh. There, you’ll start exploring Morocco, hitting top landmarks including the Majorelle Gardens, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace and the central plaza, Djemaa el Fna (don’t worry, we can’t pronounce it either). They’ll make sure to wind-down at a street side café for people watching over a traditional hookah and mint tea.

Using Marrakesh as a base camp, you’ll embark on excursions throughout Morocco, including the indigenous Berber village in Ourika Valley and the beach town of Essaouira. One evening, you’ll rock the Kasbah in the desert town of Ourzazate, touring the ancient Islamic fortified palace where elaborate celebrations were once held. You’ll top off your trip with a sunset camel ride to a remote Saharan oasis where you’ll camp under the desert stars and relax to traditional music around the fire. Join SnoworSand this spring and rock the Kasbah in Morocco.

So you think it’s too early to book your spring break packages? Think again! Right now you can get some great deals to Europe. Why Europe? Well, Europe is diverse and it has a lot to offer. You can go with a wild spring break, sophisticated spring break or something in the middle. We’ve kept in mind that you’re a student – so we recommend based on price, quality of nightlife, public transportation and cost of airfare and hotel. You’ll experience something worth writing home about.

StudentUniverse Top European Picks

We love Dublin and we think it’s perfect for that spring break trip with a few friends. Pretty city, friendly people and plenty of pubs – what’s not to like?

Best known for Disney World and Universal, Orlando is an exciting and vibrant city in the heart of Florida. With mild and warm year round weather and sunshine almost everyday this city is a true gem. From theme parks and water parks, to shows and an array of fun activities, Orlando is a lot of fun for any spring breaker. In fact it is one of the best places in the world to go to for spring break. Partly because you don’t even have to leave the country to go here. So no passport required. Also airfare is usually pretty inexpensive to Orlando compared to other places you could go to. This is the kind of place that college students go to in groups because it is so much fun to go together and share the experience. There are so many day as well as night activities to keep you busy all week long.

Orlando Pictures

Activities

Disney World and Universal Studios are the top of anyone’s to do list while in Orlando. Walt Disney World is considered by many to be the best themed amusement park in the world. There is a misconception that Disney is located in Orlando when in fact it is 35 miles south in Lake Buena Vista. There are a number of fun activities, rides, and excellent restaurants. Parades and guest appearances make this quite the experience. Universal Orlando is the number one competitor to Disney World. There are two theme parks here that rival the infamous Disney resorts. Here you will find the spider-man and batman roller coaster rides that everyone raves about. Seaworld, Gatorland, and Wet ‘N Wild make nice additions to the other parks. Explore undersea animals and fun attractions. Discovery Cove is new and is very unique kind of place. There is a limit to 1000 people per day. For one all inclusive price you can swim with dolphins, food, and drinks.

Nightlife

In Orlando there is much by way of nightlife. Right in Disney World Theme parks there are a lot of opportunities for crazy fun spring break night adventures. In Epcot Center you can spend the night dining at one of the exotic and sensual restaurants while taking in a show. As far as clubs go the downtown area in Orlando has what you are looking for. Club Firestone, Tabu Nightclub, Pulse, Antigua, Latitudes, and Cairo Nightclub are sure bets for a fun time. Remember to dress correctly depending on where you go. Check first if you are unsure, but the best bets are to leave the sneakers and hoodies at home. And remember your ID. The drinking age here is 21 and everyone checks.

Travel Tips

What to know before you go? How exactly do you keep safe in Orlando during spring break. Keep your jewelry and expensive items at home. Don’t keep too much on you as far as money is concerned. And you always will want to travel in groups with your friends. Spring break is fast approaching and airfares as well as hostels/hotels are booking up fast. StudentUniverse.com offers cheap and competitive rates for college students. It’s a good idea for students, especially when traveling in groups to keep a buddy system in check at all times in case of emergency. Occasionally there are hotel raids and students should take note that, though they are rare, you will want to make sure you don’t have anything valuable left in the hotel room just in case.
