Things to do in Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is one of Southeast Asia’s highly industrialized countries. In its city center, one of the major destinations is the Kuala Lumpur tower, which offers magnificent views around Kuala Lumpur and is one of the tallest buildings in the world. The Petronas Twin Towers are also one of Kuala Lumpur’s landmarks, and it is located in The Golden Triangle, Kuala Lumpur’s commercial center. Other famous tourist attractions include the Aquaria KLCC (underwater park) and events like the Chinese cultural festivals at the Thean Hou Temple (six-tiered Chinese temple).
Nightlife in Kuala Lumpur
Although authorities in Kuala Lumpur enforce a 3 am closure ruling for nightspots, the city’s nightlife is still one of the best in Southeast Asia. The Golden Triangle is still the place to visit at night, which is where the well-known clubs and bars are found. To attract customers, most pubs and bars in the city typically hold their happy hours (flat rates for free-flow of beer) early in the evenings. On Wednesdays there are also ladies’ nights, and other promotions of sorts are offered by a number of pubs and bars to keep people coming back for more!
Dining in Kuala Lumpur
A strong emphasis is put on food in Malaysia, and that is obvious in Kuala Lumpur. You will be able to find the whole range of Malaysian cuisine, and restaurants of different atmospheres and food (gourmet, business, trendy, and budget) are available. If you are looking for not-so-expensive food, just head to the roadside places, the kedai kopi—Malaysians call it a coffeeshop but it operates like a food court that has numerous shops that offer a variety of good affordable food ideal for the student budget.
Shopping in Kuala Lumpur
Shopping in Kuala Lumpur would be great as it is the retail and fashion hub of Malaysia (it has sixty-six shopping malls); goods can be bought in every price bracket. One of Malaysia’s major shopping destinations is Suria KLCC, conveniently located beneath the famous Petronas Twin Towers. Another good shopping area is the Bukit Bintang, which is the home to numerous specialty shops, malls, and landmark shopping centers that offer a variety of merchandise to suit your budget and taste.
