You can also visit various monuments, parks, gardens, and museums, or take the Footloose in Old Delhi, a half-day walking tour in this walled city. The history of Delhi is impressive.

Nightlife in Delhi

Although the nightlife scene of Delhi isn’t as colorful as those of the other major cities worldwide, it is undergoing a total transformation. There are now plenty of bars and nightclubs, although most of them to close as early as 1 A.M. One famous night spot in Delhi is IndoChine’s Forbidden city, which is an international lounge located in the south of the city. Located in Noida, Elevate is also a brilliant choice as it was voted number 35 worldwide amongst nightclubs by top international DJs.

Dining in Delhi

Thanks to its rich culture and history, Delhi’s cuisine is truly remarkable. It is said that food in Delhi will satisfy even the most particular gourmet. Here you will find the best Indian food on the subcontinent, and there’s also a wide array of excellent international restaurants. In addition, due to the fact that Delhi is located 1000 km from the nearest ocean, vegetarian, chicken and mutton dishes tend to be the best choices. There are a lot of cheap restaurants and street food stands, though they don’t always agree with the stomach’s of westerners, so be cautious!

Shopping in Delhi

You will enjoy shopping in Delhi as it is known to be a shopping haven, but that is only if you are not afraid to bump elbows in bazaars. The main shopping day in the city, and the most crowded, is Saturday, and most shops are closed on Sundays. To find numerous Western-style shops, you can go to Connaught Place, but if you are hunting for bargains, you may want to check out Janpath, a vast flea market where you will find all kinds of goods and clothes.

Delhi travel tips

  • You will find the cheapest hotels in Delhi on the street of Paharganj (known as the Main Bazaar).
  • It is dusty in Delhi and quite hot during summer so it is advised that you keep yourself covered to avoid heat stroke, and drink plenty of water.
  • Be careful to keep your cash, passport, and cards secured to be safe from Delhi’s ubiquitous pickpockets.
