If you’re anything like me, Spring Fever sets in the instant you’re back from Spring Break and won’t leave until it’s summertime.  While spring has many college students itching to break out shorts, Frisbees, and do anything but study for class, you can find ways to productively channel your spring fever energy.  Sprucing up your dorm room—yes, I mean spring cleaning—can be a fun activity that will help you stay motivated throughout the rest of the semester.

Rearranging your furniture is a great way to make your dorm room feel brand new.  Try using some Feng Shui techniques  for a new look.  Feng Shui is all about bringing in positive energy and deflecting negative energy—who doesn’t want that?

Open your windows often to let in fresh air that is full of oxygen and not stale.  Practitioners of Feng Shui believe that light is the strongest manifestation of energy, so try to take advantage of as much natural light as possible.  Don’t rely on fluorescent lighting—it’s unflattering!

Decorate your walls using images that you want to see in your life.  It doesn’t have to be expensive, either.  Print out your favorite quotes or cover the walls with photos of friends and family.  Many photo sites offer free prints when you register with a free account.

Get your accessories and small, random items under control using unique organizational techniques.  Old jars can be given new life with a coat of paint or a cute ribbon, and can store just about anything.  You can also cover an old shoe box with fun wrapping paper or fabric to emulate a more expensive storage bin and express your personal style.

Make getting dressed in the morning more fun and extend the time between laundry trips with sweet-smelling clothes.  Save the perfume samples from magazines and place them in your drawers or tape them to the back of your closet wall.  This will make your clothes smell better without the chemical smell of air fresheners.

Spring is here and it’s the ideal time to give new life and energy to your dorm room! These quick and easy ideas will make the hours you spend in your room more enjoyable and bring you positive energy for the rest of the semester.
