Paul Jacobs Appointed SVP, Marketing + Executive Team Member

Last week, we announced that Atle Skalleberg, StudentUniverse’s managing director, was appointed Chief Digital Officer of Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG). Today, we are pleased to announce that Paul Jacobs has been appointed SVP of Marketing and a member StudentUniverse’s executive management team, which is responsible for the company’s health and growth globally. In tandem, he will work closely with the team supporting FCTG’s digital transformation to help develop, present, and implement a clear digital strategy for FCTG globally.

Paul joined StudentUniverse as an intern almost a decade ago after returning from a semester abroad in Florence and has since held various positions in Business Development and Marketing. In May 2013, he became VP, Marketing and last summer, he was named one of Phocuswright’s 35 Under 35, recognized as a young leader playing a key role in the future growth of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Under Paul’s leadership, the marketing team at StudentUniverse has grown five times in just three years and continues to grow rapidly as it evolves to support the needs of StudentUniverse, FCTG and its portfolio companies.

“I have a love affair with this company,” Paul said. “It’s a breeding ground for success and an incubator for ideas. Every team member can have a substantial impact on the business and we reward those who are willing to put their neck out for something they believe in. Every year, we have new challenges and opportunities. StudentUniverse has grown 25-40% YoY for years and now, we hope to play a key role in Flight Centre’s digital commerce transformation.”

In commenting on the promotion, Atle said, “Paul has made substantial strategic contributions to the business over the past few years and I am confident he will continue to problem-solve and capitalize on opportunities in his new role. His track record of delivering growth and exceptional follow-through discipline makes him a great management team member.”

Please join us in congratulating Paul!
