What are the main Australia airport hubs?

Australia may be a big country, but many of the main airport hubs are located on the southwestern coast.

Sydney (SYD): The Sydney airport is where you'll likely fly into if you're visiting anywhere in New South Wales. The airport is located pretty close to the city, with the Airport Link train connecting both terminals to Central Station, St. James Station, the ferries to the Sydney Harbor and more in just 15-20 minutes.

Melbourne (MEL): The Melbourne Airport, also known as the Tullamarine Airport, is the main international airport for Melbourne and surrounding areas. Getting to the city from the airport takes about 25-35 minutes by Uber/taxi, or you can opt for the cheaper (but slightly longer) ride on one of the Melbourne Airport shuttle buses.

Brisbane (BNE): The Brisbane Airport is the main international airport for Brisbane as well as the entire Southern Queensland area. Once you arrive, a quick train ride will take you from the airport right into the city in about 20 minutes—just look for the signs for the Airtrain stations. The airport also has train options for heading out to the Gold Coast or connecting with trains heading across Queensland.

How to fly from the USA to Australia

Despite being pretty far away, Australia is pretty easy to get to from the US. Since there's not much in between the US and Australia besides a massive ocean, it's a long flight, but there's plenty of direct options. Flights from the East Coast will likely have a layover in Los Angeles or San Francisco before continuing on.
